{About me}

Hi, I’m Fränz Friederes from Luxembourg. Developer, web designer, I’d even call myself an inventor. Things that really get my creative vein flowing include web projects and the preparation of design concepts, yet I also have a for building the whole infrastructure behind a website or a web application. I’ve had quite a few crazy ideas running through my mind that took shape on the screen of my computer just a few minutes later. On this website, I’d like to share with you some samples of my work and the experience I was able to collect over the years. I’m also very excited about projects such as the realization of mobile apps, web applications and software for PC and Mac. My main ambition is to combine user-friendliness, design and functionality in my projects. Indeed, as I was able to notice in the course of my work, I might as well suffer from perfectionism because I don’t really feel daunted by the challenge of tweaking every tiny little detail to ensure the “right” look and feel of the project. I welcome any feedback and look forward to your suggestions and comments! Thank you very much for your interest!

Just for fun

Ok, I also create some crazy things without a real target behind it. Here some of these.

LuX Airport Arrivals and Departures → visit project
I developed this little project hours after the idea to improve the table of arrivals and departures of an airport. A PHP script parse the table on the LuX Airport website and displays it in a way.

One M(0:00)re Time → visit project
One of my friends said to me that he miss a loop button on YouTube. So I made a web application what supplement this feature. After clicking once on a bookmarklet the site repeats the video every time it ends. In addition I added a smart, clean design to it. Let's see if it has success.

{Milestones}

August 2006 I discovered the joy of programming at the age of 15, after tons of experiments with my Commodore 64; the next thing I wanted was to expand my knowledge and I bought a book that teaches basic HTML and how to build a simple website.

March 2007 Together with several friends, I ran a booth at CDays, a school event in Ettelbruck’s LTETT, where I was in charge of explaining the structure of an HTML (web) page. The presentation attracted a lot of interest and motivated me to take my learning to a deeper level.

December 2007 Installation of a web server and launch of my first live website. This was the first time I used PHP scripts and mySQL databases. The result was a small social network, which people could use to exchange jokes with friends.

November 2008 School internship in the web development department of an IT enterprise: ION Network Solutions S.à r.l. I managed to collect a lot of valuable experience and make my first steps in professional programming as well as establish my first contacts in this business.

August 2009 One of these contacts recommended a hosting server I could use for my website and later invited me to join the IT company Compagnie Luxembourgeoise d'Annuaires S.A.. The experience I amassed and the satisfactory performance I was able to demonstrate in advanced web development ensured that I was accepted for further vacation jobs.

January 2010 Thanks to one such job in the second half of December, I was able to get a MacBook. This signaled my introduction to iPhone app development.

March 2010 My first app, FF Radio Player, was accepted in the App Store without objections by Apple and welcomed by users with hundreds of downloads.

October 2010 A Premium Upgrade option was added to FF Radio Player. The first sales followed...

July 2011 Installation and administration of my own Linux server. I am currently gaining more experience in the areas of server administration and security.
